Dance Connection Competition Team
Our competition was established in 2010 with 14 team members. Our team is comprised of current Dance Connection students who show great promise and potential during weekly classes. Students are either invited to join the team or invited to audition for the team during the month of May after the annual recital.
The competition team is directed by coaches, owner Amanda Downs, along side Ryan Chavez, Cesar Ramos, and Josiah Brooks. Additional we contract other talented choreographers such as Martha Rempe and others!
Our competition team travels and competes in Albuquerque, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, and other cities as the team coaches sees fit.
Our team appreciates support through fundraisers which are the primary way they fund travel and other competition needs.
2020 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
during this most recent 2020 season our competitive team traveled to 2 states and welcomed 2 competitions into their hometown all for the love of dance. After a full year of no performances they completed the season with multiple platinum, gold, and high gold placements as well as top over all scores and special awards. Our Farmington Team also welcomed FIVE new team members from southern New Mexico which was the beginning of our Las Cruces site. These 5 dancers placed extremely well in a group dance, as well as in solo pieces. The Pandemic provided challenges and room for dancers to grow and excel in new ways and still find ways to succeed. We are looking forward to pushing into a new season knowing we can take on ANYTHING in one location or TWO!
